The Reaper - 2025 Finalist 2025 Churchie Emerging Arts
The Reaper dives headfirst into the cultural rollercoaster of 2025 America. It poses big questions about the relentless industrial harvesting of artists’ work to feed generative AI engines, but it is also a joyous celebration of creativity. The disjointed, dream-state narrative deliberately mixes eras and settings. The nostalgic black and white aesthetic and the playful exploration of clichéd male narratives surprise us, but ultimately reinforce gender stereotypes.
The creative process is experimental and iterative, prompting, training, editing, and refining content across several platforms. Rather than trying to simulate realism, the work actively highlights and celebrates generative AI’s limitations and mistakes.
Generative AI platforms are reshaping arts practice in fundamental ways, and there is an opportunity to inform their development through analysis of the history of technologies like photography. The experimental format and cinematic style reference elements of feature film trailers and long-form advertising.

Stars Align subverts traditional cowboy narratives typically based on story resolution through violence and retribution. Rather than chasing aliens to exact revenge, our hero mourns his loss, grieves with his friends and goes online to search for a new companion. We all experience loss in our lives and can struggle to express our feelings.

Neptune’s Ransom - 2025
The second video in Teddy’s Poodle Boy series takes us on a delightfully absurd underwater giant poodle rescue mission.
Our heroes are enjoying a relaxing day fishing when out of the blue a wild tempest washes into ocean. Poodle is abducted by Neptune and for held ransom. Our hero must find a car to add to Neptune’s ‘Hotwheelsesque’ collection. Who can help Poodle Boy complete his mission and rescue his partner? How is even breathing down there?
Bitten - 2026 Finalist Ravenswood Australian Women’s Arts Prize
Bitten is a three part video series using the Willhelm Scream - a famous fillm sound effect recording as repeating soundtrack.
A series of playful AI-generated video vignettes: jungle adventures, fashion obsessions, ER horror and other heightened genre worlds. These scenes visualise male narrative fantasies and character stereotypes.
The Wilhelm Scream has become a recurring industry “easter egg” — the work explores how popular culture recycles familiar ideas of masculinity, danger, glamour, panic, heroism and control.
